HAMMERHAND
is the collaboration of husband and wife artists Hannes Garrett and
Trilby VanDeusen. Together we have worked to create a line of jewelry
that is designed to be strong bold and heavy yet comfortable enough to
be
worn everyday. Heavy gauge sterling silver wire is twisted and hammered
to create our line of bracelets and chokers. We are partial to the idea
of someone forming their own personal connection to a piece of jewelry.
The highest of compliments comes when someone wears our jewelry until
the metal has worn thin, like a favorite pair of shoes. We appreciate
that with the purchase of this piece it will become a part of your life.

Heavy gauge sterling silver wire is twisted and hammered to create our line
of bracelets. We allow the texture and color of the metal to be the primary focus of
the piece.
We consider all of the jewelry we make to be permanent. Our jewelry with
clasp closures, are not quite permanent;
however we encourage all prospective buyers to wear these pieces as if
they didn’t have clasp. Our intention is that you live in these bracelets. You will find them weighty yet
comfortable. We trust you will discover that you’ll never want to take
them off! We encourage
people to wear them in sets to emphasize their impact.
Our jewelry is intended
to be lived in.

An
Arizona native, Hannes started making jewelry
in 1974. Hannes Garrett is a true metalsmith at heart; a self taught
silversmith, trained blacksmith, certified welder and freelance sculptor.
Since 1986 Hannes has worked at Paolo Soleri’s bell foundry in Scottsdale,
AZ. Currently he is the Head of
the Foundries at
Cosanti and
Arcosanti. Hannes
has mastered the technique of lost Styrofoam casting and taught dozens
of apprentices the secrets of running a small sand foundry; working as
technical advisor on many projects. He has always been partial to the
idea of someone forming their own personal connection to a piece of
jewelry and likes knowing that each piece becomes a part of his
customer’s lives.
